Top 5 films at Iran box office unveiled

Top five bestselling films at Iranian box office for April 12-19, 2018 have been unveiled with Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian’s ‘Lottery’ shining at the top.

Top five movies at the Iranian box office from Thursday last week through Wednesday include:

‘Lottery’ directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, (Weekly gross: 19,778,100,000 Rials, Total gross: 94,048,390,000 Rials),  'Damascus Time', directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, (Weekly gross: 18,121,720,000 Rials, Total gross: 93,564,690,000 Rials), ‘Confiscation’, directed by Mehran Ahmadi (Weekly gross: 17,318,800,000 Rials, Total gross: 115,757,990,000 Rials), 'Vespiary', directed by Borzou Niknejad, (Weekly gross: 10,440,870,000 Rials, Total gross: 63,610,370,000 Rials), ‘The Elephant King’, directed by Hadi Mohammadian, (Weekly gross: 8,170,730,000 Rials, Total gross: 27,809,020,000 Rials).

‘Lottery’ has been running in the Iranian cinemas for 5 weeks. The movie welcomed by Iranian cinemagoers from the outset of screening.

 “Amirali and Nooshin want to get married but their families disagree. They decide to remain patient. They have dreams about winning US Foreign Ministry lottery for Green Card,” a short synopsis of the flick read.

To give his audience a mental image, Mahdavian says that his movie is about protective men. He explains how this theme is dominant in his new work. The protagonist of the movie is in pursuit of finding the right way and to do the right thing.

Among the actors who star in the movie are Hamid Farrokhnejad, Mohammad Javad Ezzati, Saed Soheili, Hadi Hejazifar, Nader Soleimani, Mehdi Zaminpardaz and Ziba Karam-Ali.
